Neubrandenburg (dpa / mv) - The district of Mecklenburgische Seenplatte will not participate in a lawsuit in connection with the daycare financing, as decided by the Neighboring District Council Vorpommern-Greifswald.

This decision has now been made, said District Administrator Heiko Kärger (CDU) on Tuesday in Neubrandenburg.

"We want to solve the problems in discussions."

Kärger is also the chairman of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania district council.

The district council of Vorpommern-Greifswald decided on Monday evening that the local district administrator Michael Sack (CDU) can sue the country.

The background to this is the new version of the Child Day Promotion Act (KiföG).

The lawsuit is supposed to be about whether additional costs for daycare financing have to be borne by the state or the districts and municipalities, where high costs are said to have already accumulated.

The decision was necessary because otherwise the deadline for such a lawsuit would have expired by the end of 2020, according to the Vorpommern-Greifswald district.

No other district council has so far taken a similar decision.

But Sack had also emphasized that discussions with the country were still ongoing, regardless of the planning of lawsuits.

Should this be successful, there is no need to file a suit.

In principle, parents in the northeast should not be questioned about the fact that their parents are exempt from paying fees.
