A feasibility study carried out by Uppsala Municipality showed the need for more free and organized activities for children and young people in Gottsunda, in direct connection with school time.

The reason is that they participate to a lesser extent in leader-led activities than children and young people in other parts of Uppsala.

- And we know that organized leisure is a success factor if you are to manage school and get on the right keel in life, says Erik Pelling (S), chairman of the municipal board.

Model successful elsewhere

The intended all-activity house for leisure activities that the municipality intends to start in Gottsunda is based on the model "community school" or "school in the middle of the village".

The model has previously been launched in other socially vulnerable areas and then raises both school results and security.

- We know that the model has been successful in Malmö, among other places, says Erik Pelling (S).

But it was not known before that young people in Gottsunda to a lesser extent wanted or could participate in organized activities in their spare time - Erik Pelling (S) about the political responsibility in the clip.
