"In the old Zhangbei Public School, Nanyang Style School, the sound of books resounded through Xihe." The reporter heard the local people's emotion when visiting Zhangbei Village, Dapu County, Meizhou, Guangdong.

The Nanyang style school building in front of us has become a part of "Heduli" B&B.

Cai Ruofu, the first secretary of Zhangbei Village, said that this is the first branded homestay in Meizhou.

In the past few days, reporters visited Meizhou and found that “using residences to lead villages” and revitalizing old buildings are a major feature of local poverty alleviation. The development of homestays and rural tourism attract tourists from all over the world and bring more income to local poor people.

Dapu County is known as "Hakka Shangri-La". There are many well-known buildings in and outside the jurisdiction, such as the former residence of Tian Jiabing, the ancestral residence of Li Guangyao, and the ancient buildings of Baihou Town.

A 10-minute drive from "Heduli" B&B is another building, the former residence of Zhang Bishi, a famous patriotic overseas Chinese leader and one of the eight Hakka sages.

"Heduli", as the name suggests, is in the rice fields. The main body of the homestay is the former Zhangbei College, surrounded by large paddy fields.

Cai Ruofu said that Zhangbei Public School was established with donations from overseas Chinese and locals at that time. It has a history of more than 100 years and has been abandoned for a long time with the changes of the times.

They cooperated with Heduli (Meizhou) Tourism and Culture Management Co., Ltd., using the method of repairing the old as before, to build this place into a pastoral complex of "homestay + farming + research + cultural tourism".

Walking into the building, the reporter was attracted by a donation map, which reads "The list of donors for the construction of the Zhangbei Public School Ping Stadium. The donation amount is in Singapore dollars...".

There used to be overseas Chinese to help, but now with the efforts of various parties, not only have funds but also methods, and local people can also live on their own and live better.

Step on the creaky wooden old stairs step by step, and from the roof, you can see the rice fields, cottages, rivers, and grapefruit forests.

In the current season, the rice has already been cut. Unfortunately, I couldn’t feel the Southern Song poet Xin Qiji's "The fragrance of rice blossoms say good harvest, listen to the sound of frogs." The clerk introduced that there are 30 themed rooms and scenes in "Heduli" A style restaurant, with rice field viewing plank road inside, an infinity swimming pool on the top floor, and complete supporting facilities.

In the building, apart from the laughter of the guests, you can also see the peasant women who are busy cleaning and making tea.

Cai Ruofu said that they were originally left-behind women in the village, but now they are employees here.

Farmer woman Zhang Wuying used to be a poor household. She said that after working here, she had an income of more than 3,000 yuan (RMB, the same below). Her son opened a snack bar, plus his own honey pomelo forest and rice fields. 280,000 yuan.

A few days ago, the Sanhe Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Dapu County was selected into the National Revolutionary Cultural Relics List of Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.

Guo Chunyu, leader of the poverty alleviation team in Jiuzhai Village, Sanhe Town, Dapu County, took reporters to visit this place.

According to him, this place is the earliest built and well-preserved Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in the mainland, and it has long been restored for tourists to visit.

The memorial hall is a two-story building with reinforced concrete structure. On the top of the building, there is the book "Zhongshan Memorial Hall" inscribed by Hu Hanmin, and the upper part of the nave on the first floor has the words "Admiring the Father of the Sun" written by Jiang Zhongzheng.

Guo Chunyu said that since the poverty alleviation in the village, the roads in the village have been hard-bottomed and convenient, and the village appearance has been beautified. With the unique revolutionary cultural imprint of Sanhe Town, they have joined forces with surrounding counties and cities to develop cultural tourism and increase local people’s income.

During the visit to Meizhou, photovoltaic power generation panels were installed on some buildings, and the local government actively promoted photovoltaic poverty alleviation, and the people also ate "sunshine rice".

The reporter learned from the Meizhou Poverty Alleviation Bureau that the city invested 780 million yuan to implement 559 photovoltaic poverty alleviation projects, ranking first in Guangdong in terms of scale and effectiveness.

Fang Fengzhong, the administrative director of Guangdong Yaosheng Solar Energy Technology Co., Ltd., said in an interview that solar panels are installed on the building for self-generated electricity, and the excess is merged into the grid and sold to the power company. Take the user's installation of 10 kilowatts of solar panels as an example. With an income of nearly 10,000 yuan, they also designed solar panels according to the characteristics of Hakka houses, which are both beautiful and environmentally friendly.
