A loss of players among Sörmland's handball clubs would hit extra hard, especially as many associations already have a shortage of players and many have been granted an exemption for having teams of different ages to bring together entire player squads.

But sports clubs are not just grappling with potential membership losses.

According to RF-SISU Sörmland's chairman, Jörgen Hedberg, many associations testify to poor finances.

- Usually during the summer, a number of activities are carried out to earn money, which are then used to conduct business during the winter, such as flea markets and cups.

When it has not been possible to carry out these activities, money is scarce to say the least, he says and continues:

- Then it is up to the association to find new ways to finance the activity by perhaps raising the membership fee.

The alternative is to cancel the entire business because you can not afford to finance it, which would be the worst imaginable.
