Joshi Roy, an inspector for West Godavari County, Statewide, said the disease was not related to COVID-19.

“We suspect water pollution with heavy metals, organophosphorus compounds, pesticides,” RIA Novosti quotes him. 

He said that the patients passed negative tests for COVID-19 and underwent computed tomography, which showed that they did not have a coronavirus infection.

The inspector added that the authorities are trying to find out the exact cause of the disease.  

It is noted that an outbreak of an unknown disease in Eluru and its environs began last Sunday.

According to a source from RIA Novosti, the total number of cases exceeded 800 people, one died.

Symptoms include dizziness, epilepsy, fainting, foam at the mouth, and tremors.

According to local authorities, the disease is not transmitted from person to person.

Earlier it was reported that the total number of COVID-19 cases in India exceeded 9.6 million.
