Freiburg (dpa / lsw) - Sports director Jochen Saier has classified the situation of SC Freiburg as “not uncritical”.
"We have to make sure that we collect the points by Christmas so that we don't get into such a vortex," said the 42-year-old in the SWR on Sunday evening.
After the 2-2 draw against Borussia Mönchengladbach, coach Christian Streich's team has been without a win for nine games and is 14th in the Bundesliga table, just one point ahead of relegation rank.
"We are not known in Freiburg for drumming insanely in phases of success, for being unable to run with strength," said Saier, "but we are also not known for losing our nerve quickly in difficult phases."
On the next two match days, the sports club will face relegation rivals Arminia Bielefeld and FC Schalke 04, and a home game against Hertha BSC is due before Christmas.
