Krefeld (dpa / lnw) - After a traffic control in Krefeld, two men chased each other with the police.
Some of them were driving their presumably stolen car as a ghost driver on the A57 in the direction of Moers, as the police announced on Sunday.
First the 29-year-old driver ignored the stop signals of a police car and escaped at high speed over two red traffic lights.
After changing direction on the autobahn, he drove back to downtown Krefeld.
Because of a defective tire, the 29-year-old had to stop and fled on foot.
The police arrested his 32-year-old passenger.
The officers later discovered the driver in a front yard.
Krefeld, who was known to the police, did not have a valid driver's license.
The car is registered to a man from Aachen.
According to the police, the background to the escape is still open.
