Cologne (dpa) - Even with the youngest starting eleven for almost 54 years and a goal like Lukas Podolski once did, 1. FC Cologne has not ended its black home series.

A week after the 2-1 coup at Borussia Dortmund, Cologne only managed a 2-2 (2-1) win against VfL Wolfsburg despite two leads, and thus stayed in the Bundesliga for the first time in their 49th season eleven home games in a row without a win.

Wolfsburg set a positive club record in the 24th first division year with ten games without defeat at the start of the season.

Jan Thielmann wrote a curious piece of club history for the people of Cologne.

The offensive player was 18 years, six months and nine days old when he scored a professional goal in the 18th minute as the future world champion Lukas Podolski when he scored his first Bundesliga goal for FC in 2003. After the equalizer by Maximilian Arnold (29.) Ondrej Duda shot FC again in the lead (43.).

Wout Weghorst equalized again (47th).

Weghorst's seven goals after the tenth game day are also a club record.

The Dutchman shares it with Jonathan Akpoborie (1999/2000) and Edin Dzeko (2010/11).

Cologne still ranks 15th with only seven points, which would be enough to save them at the end of the season.

Wolfsburg is still fifth with 18 points.

Cologne had the first chance in a lively game with a shot from Wolfsburg loan Elvis Rexhbecaj, which VfL keeper Koen Casteels parried (9th).

Two minutes later, Cologne goalkeeper Timo Horn saved FC from falling behind when he held against Weghorst, who was completely free in front of him, after an air hole from his name colleague Jannes Horn (11th).

As in Dortmund, the Cologne team acted with a three-way chain in defense.

In the storm, where Sebastian Andersson initially sat on the bench due to knee problems like Anthony Modeste, instead of a false nine, two played side by side: Duda and Thielmann, who both promptly met after being crossed from the right.

First, Salih Özcan, who had to leave the field after 38 minutes with a hamstring injury, then prepared Rexhbecaj.

Arnold scored with a remarkable free kick that he had previously taken out himself.

Weghorst headed a cross from Renato Steffen.

The Swiss Steffen had the second equalizer almost immediately followed by the first lead of the now clearly dominant Wolfsburg, but shot just wide (54th).

On the other side, Xaver Schlager saved after a header from Sebastiaan Bornauw just before the line (74th).
