Despite a brace from Thomas Müller and three assists from Kingsley Coman, Bayern Munich conceded a 3-3 draw on Saturday at home against Leipzig, in a sumptuous and undecided duel at the top.

This result allows Bayern to stay ahead with 23 points, ahead of Leipzig, 21 points.

Dortmund (19 pts) is provisionally third.

Leverkusen (19 pts), who plays Sunday against the red lantern Schalke, can grab second place if they win.

Some matches make you regret the absence of an audience more than others.

This Bayern-Leipzig was one of them, so much the spectacle offered by this new German "Klassiker" would have deserved to be sounded and colored by the passion of the fans.

Since a 3-0 loss in 2018 against Mönchengladbach, Rekordmeister had not conceded three goals at home.

But against the reigning European champions, the men of young coach Julian Nagelsmann managed the best game of their season.

The two teams surrendered blow for blow, Bayern playing on the quality of its attackers, Leipzig taking advantage of the smallest openings against, and the relative slowness of the Bavarian central defense, made up of Jérôme Boateng and Niklas Süle.

- Doubled by Müller -

The 17-year-old Englishman Jamal Musiala (1-1, 30th) first answered for Bayern at the opening scoring of the French international hope of Leipzig Christopher Nkunku.

Launched in depth, Nkunku allowed himself to dribble Manuel Neuer out 25 meters from his goals, to score in the empty cage (1-0, 19th).

In the 34th minute, Thomas Müller gave the advantage to Rekordmeister (2-1), but his joy lasted less than two minutes: Justin Kluivert, the son of former Dutch international Patrick Kluivert, equalized on the first action after the engagement (2-2, 35th).

Same ping-pong in the second period: Emil Forsberg put Leipzig back in front (3-2, 48th), before Müller slammed a double to come back to equality (3-3, 75th).

On the Bayern side, Coman has been the decisive passer on his team's three goals, and is now on three goals and five assists in his last four matches.

- Dortmund in slow motion -

In the other matches, Dortmund without its striker Erling Haaland (muscle problem) again let some points slip, conceding a 1-1 draw in Frankfurt.

Borussia, which for two seasons has alternated periods of euphoria with more or less long "black holes", remains on two draws and one defeat.

Giovanni Reyna, the 18-year-old American talent, saved the point from a draw (1-1) by equalizing with a superb strike from fifteen meters in the second period (56th), after the opener by Frankfurt from the 9th minute.

"We must stop overestimating ourselves", had launched the coach of "Borussen" Lucien Favre, very annoyed after the 1-1 draw against Lazio Rome Wednesday in the Champions League, believing that the press expects too much from his young team , constantly compared to Bayern Munich.

In his defense, Dortmund finished the game with six players aged 21 or under on the pitch: Moukoko, 16, Jude Bellingham, 17, Giovanni Reyna, 18, Mateu Morey and Jadon Sancho, both 20, and French center-back Dan-Axel Zagadou, 21, who had hardly played since March, arrested by a serious external ligament injury in a knee.

In addition, Mönchengladbach, still at the top of his Champions League group, and who will play his qualification this week at Real Madrid, continues to trample in the league.

Despite goals from Swiss strikers Breel Embolo and French strikers Alassane Pléa, "the other" Borussia could not do better than a 2-2 draw at Freiburg.

Marcus Thuram's teammates are 7th with 16 points.
