A memorial service was held at the local church, after which d'Estaing was buried next to his daughter, who died two years ago.
It is noted that d'Estaing was buried in the territory belonging to his family.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron said that d'Estaing did not want a national farewell ceremony to be organized in his memory.
Macron noted that the funeral of the former French leader will be held in the family circle.
Giscard d'Estaing, who ruled France from 1974 to 1981, died at the age of 95.
