The number of hospitalized patients and those in intensive care is falling again, but the number of new cases detected since the last tally is up slightly.

The number of hospital deaths caused by Covid-19 was down again on Saturday, with a total of 216 deaths, and other health data also indicates, for the moment, a slight decline in the epidemic, according to figures published by Public Health France.

54,981 deaths, decrease in resuscitations and hospitalizations

France has recorded 216 deaths from Covid-19 in its hospitals over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of people who have died since the start of the epidemic to 54,981 people last winter, including 37,822 in hospitals.

284 people died on Friday, 326 on Thursday and 213 a week ago.

Note that the number of registered deaths is often lower on weekends.

Hospitals had 3,220 patients in intensive care or intensive care units, including 125 admissions in the past 24 hours.

These departments had 3,283 patients the day before and 3,765 seven days ago.

A stable test positivity rate

All departments combined, 26,040 hospital beds were occupied by Covid patients, of which 1,019 arrived within 24 hours.

A week ago, hospitals had 28,139 Covid patients.

The positivity rate (proportion of the number of positive people compared to the total number of people tested) remained stable compared to the previous day, at 10.7%.

It was 11.4% a week ago.

The number of new cases of contamination confirmed in the past 24 hours was 12,923, compared to 11,221 the day before.
