Lüneburg / Berlin (dpa) - The Berlin Volleys are again at the top of the table in the volleyball Bundesliga.

At SVG Lüneburg, coach Cedric Enard's team held their own on Saturday thanks to a sovereign performance with 3: 0 (25:17, 25:21, 25:19).

From their eight league games, the volleys got 18 out of 24 possible points.

The victory also means a successful dress rehearsal for the games in the group stage of the Champions League.

There the BR Volleys will meet Volley Ljubljana, Zenit Kazan and Jastrzebski Wegiel on three consecutive evenings starting Tuesday.

In Lüneburg, the highly concentrated BR Volleys dominated from the start.

With the return of Timothee Carle, who had recovered from an abdominal muscle, the attacking game was much more variable than before.

On top of that, the guests had clear advantages in the serve.

In sets two and three, the Lüneburgers came into play a little better.

After an acceptance mistake by Julian Zenger after a serve by Hannes Gerken in the third round, they even led 9: 7.

But the BR Volleys struck back consistently and were already 16:11 in front on the second technical break.

Star player Sergej Grankin only came on a short assignment with the Berliners after a torn muscle fiber in his calf.

Pierre Pujol represented him.

The Frenchman convinced again with a sovereign performance.
