According to the state-owned China Central Television, a total of 24 people were trapped in a coal mine in Yongchuan District, Chongqing City, when the carbon monoxide concentration in the mine rose around 5 pm local time on the 4th.



One of them was rescued, but so far 18 people have died and 5 are missing, and fire departments and others are continuing rescue activities.



The coal mine was closed about two months ago, and at the time of the accident, work was being done to dismantle the equipment in the mine.



Local authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
