04 December 2020A 12-year-old boy died in Reggio Emilia after being hit by a van.

The accident occurred shortly after 2.30 pm in the hamlet of Cella, on the Via Emilia towards Parma.

The boy was walking along the road when suddenly - for reasons still being examined by the municipal police - he was run over by a Fiat Ducato driven by a 35 year old.



An ambulance and a self-medical doctor immediately arrived on the scene who provided first aid and then transported the boy in urgency, in very serious condition, to the Santa Maria Nuova hospital in Reggio Emilia where, however, he died a few hours later. 



The 12-year-old who died in Reggio Emilia had not returned home after leaving school in Cavriago,


municipality of Reggiano, where he lived with his family.

The worried mother did not see him return, at around 13.30 she gave the alarm to the police, denouncing his disappearance also through an announcement on social networks complete with a mugshot and the description on the clothing worn.



A mobilization has taken place throughout the country to look for him and the carabinieri, who are trying to trace the reasons for the removal, are also investigating the school environment.

The fact is that the boy walked along the Via Emilia towards Reggio Emilia and traveled about 6 kilometers, up to the hamlet of Cella, where the tragedy occurred.



A van - a Fiat Ducato driven by a 35-year-old (his position is being examined by investigators) - suddenly ran over him, as he was crossing the road in a point where there are no pedestrian crossings.

The municipal police who are trying to reconstruct the dynamics are scanning the images of the cameras in the area.
