Heidelberg (dpa / lsw) - The Heidelberg neurobiologist Hannah Monyer receives the Lautenschläger research award this year.

The prize is endowed with 250,000 euros.

The researcher played a leading role in several discoveries, as the University of Heidelberg announced on Friday.

The 63-year-old has been the medical director of the Department of Clinical Neurobiology at the Heidelberg University Hospital since 1999.

For example, she researches mechanisms that enable cognitive processes such as learning and remembering.

According to the information, the award is the most highly endowed research award in Germany from a private donor.

It has been awarded every two years since 2001 for special achievements in cutting-edge research to scientists at Heidelberg University and scientists who are particularly associated with them through collaborations.

The award ceremony should take place in May.
