Magdeburg (dpa) - After the dismissal of Saxony-Anhalt's Interior Minister Holger Stahlknecht by Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff (both CDU), the CDU state executive advises on the situation.

According to information from the German Press Agency, Stahlknecht, in his role as party leader, had invited to a conference call on Friday afternoon.

What the top representatives specifically wanted to discuss was open.

But it should be about the question of whether Stahlknecht will continue to lead the state party.

Haseloff had justified his dismissal as minister on the grounds that a relationship of trust was severely disturbed.

In an interview with the Magdeburger Volksstimme, Stahlknecht announced a CDU minority government until the regular state elections in June 2021 in the event that the coalition with the SPD and the Greens should break in the dispute over the increase in the radio license fee. Haseloff has categorically excluded a minority government for years as well as a dependence on the votes of the AfD.
