Almost eight years of proceedings and a conviction on arrival.

A maternal assistant, who had been tried since Monday for willful violence resulting in death without the intention of giving it, was sentenced to seven years in prison on Friday.

This nanny was prosecuted for facts dating back to April 9, 2013. That day, while she was in custody, she was suspected of having shaken a six-month-old girl.

Little Louise died two days later.

She has always denied the facts and has repeatedly accused the mother of the child of being responsible for the tragedy.

At the hearing, she had reiterated her innocence and had taken refuge behind a loss of memories.

"The only thing that is certain is that I did nothing to this little one," she said according to the regional daily.

Arrived free in court, she was placed in detention.
