Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin argued that 76 Muslim places of worship were suspected of radicalization out of 2,600.

They will thus be subject to checks which should begin this Thursday, December 3 in the afternoon.

In the event of proven radicalization, places of worship will be closed.

Gérald Darmanin said Thursday that the control of 76 Mulsuman places of worship suspected of radicalization, announced the day before, would begin "in the afternoon" after a meeting of the prefects.

On RTL, the Minister of the Interior explained that these controls, announced since the day before but without any establishment being named, were intended "to raise doubts".

He argued that with "76 places of worship suspected of radicalization out of 2,600, we were far from generalized radicalization."

"Almost all Muslims in France respect the laws of the Republic and are hurt by it (radicalization)," he continued.

Before warning: "if ever the doubts were confirmed" on a radicalization of the targeted places of worship, "we will close them".
