Putin orders the start of a comprehensive vaccination campaign to prevent "Corona" in Russia

Today, Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the authorities in his country to start a comprehensive, voluntary vaccination campaign to prevent the emerging corona virus (Covid-19) next week.

Putin said that Russia will produce 2 million doses of the vaccine over the next few days.

Russia said last month that preliminary results showed that its vaccine, known as Sputnik V, is 92 percent effective in preventing Covid-19.

Putin told Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Golikova: "Let's agree on this, you will not return to me with your reports next week, but you will initiate a comprehensive vaccination ... Let's start working on it already."

Julikova said a large-scale vaccination campaign could start on a voluntary basis this month.

Russia has so far recorded two million 347,401 cases of the disease, which places it fourth in the world after the United States, India and Brazil.

Since the start of the pandemic, 4,053 deaths have been recorded.
