03 December 2020 The first contingent of doses of Pfizer / Biontech coronavirus vaccine has landed in the UK.

The cargo was transported by some unbranded trucks, through the Channel Tunnel, a 'top secret' operation to prevent the precious material from being "damaged or intercepted", and is now kept in a secret collection center in -70 degrees.

Distribution will start from the weekend, with absolute priority being given to the elderly in nursing homes and those who care for them.

Boris Johnson's government has booked 40 million doses of this vaccine, 10 million of which are expected by this year.

The acceleration on delivery comes the day after the authorization of the MHRA, the British drug authority, while the EU awaits the green light of the EMA (European Medicines Agency). Meanwhile, news comes on Pfizer's global delivery halving for 2020.
