The new Corona virus has killed nearly one and a half million people in the world, and infected more than 64 million, of whom more than 41 million have recovered, at least to date.

The United States is considered the most affected by the epidemic, as it recorded 273,847 deaths from 13 million 925,350 injuries, according to the Johns Hopkins University census, and at least 5 million 322,128 people were cured.

The death toll in the United States exceeded two thousand cases for the second day in a row, as the most dangerous season of the year for the pandemic approaches, at a time of severe pressure on the health care system, amid a state of chaos surrounding the country's political leadership.

Brazil, India, Mexico and Britain come after the United States as the most affected countries, and Belgium has the highest death rate for population, with 146 deaths per 100,000 people.

Safe vaccine?

In the meantime, CNN reported that former US presidents, Barack Obama, George Bush and Bill Clinton, will volunteer to take Corona virus vaccines in front of the cameras to enhance public confidence in the safety of these vaccines, once the drug is approved by the Food Administration.

This step comes at a time when various opinion polls show that Americans 'confidence in the expected vaccines against Corona is still at low levels, despite public health experts' assurances that they are safe and effective vaccines.

"CNN" stated that the three presidents hope that this awareness campaign will send a strong message to the American people and persuade them to take the vaccine.

The network quoted Freddy Ford, the former president's chief of staff, George Bush, as saying that the latter had contacted the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Anthony Fauci, to find out ways to help promote the vaccine.

Clinton's press secretary, Angel Orina, said the former president would also be willing to receive the vaccine in a public place to promote it if that would help urge Americans to take the same step.

As for the former President, Barack Obama, he also mentioned that he will photograph the process of receiving the vaccine, so that the Americans can be sure that he trusts the science and that this vaccine is safe and effective.

Corona to the west

On precautionary measures against the Corona virus, the Italian government yesterday adopted a decree, to tighten conditions for movement in the country during New Year's Eve celebrations, to contain the outbreak of the "Covid-19" epidemic.

From December 21 until January 6, movement between Italy's twenty regions will be prohibited except for health reasons or for work, in addition to prohibiting movement outside the city or town, except for health reasons or for work.

Meanwhile, Greece announced that isolation measures will be extended for a week until December 14, due to the number of cases, which remains high.

For his part, the German Economy Minister announced today that his country will not be able to continue its support for the economy "indefinitely" to confront the epidemic, referring to the review of the emergency mechanism as of January.

With the return of restrictions in November, Germany strengthened its measures to support companies by providing compensation of up to 75% of the lost profit in turnover, and these measures would cost the federal government 30 billion euros.

Corona to the east

In Iran - the country most affected by the epidemic in the Middle East - the number of people infected with Covid-19 today exceeded the one million mark, as a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Health announced.

Since its appearance in February, the epidemic has resulted in the death of 49,348 people in Iran, according to official figures, but these numbers are much lower than the reality, even as admitted by some officials such as Health Minister Saeed Namaki.

In Morocco, the Moroccan government today extended the state of health emergency for an additional month to counter the outbreak of the Coronavirus.

This is the ninth extension of the health emergency in Morocco, since it was first imposed on March 20, to keep Corona under control.

In Lebanon, the Minister of Health in the Lebanese caretaker government, Hamad Hassan, warned, on Thursday, of the increasing number of Coronavirus infections, and the lack of sufficient hospital beds.

Hassan said, in a tweet on his Twitter account, "A week passed by the closure with a varying commitment that did not present an ambition at the national level that exceeded expectations, and injuries are on the rise that will not be helped by many hard-won beds and exhalations."

On Monday, the Lebanese authorities began a gradual reopening of the country after a two-week closure, in an effort to limit the spread of the virus.
