According to a press release, the city of Västerås will receive 2.5 million to be used to stop the new recruitment for crime.

They will be used to reinforce efforts already being made in residential areas to help children and young people.

- This means that we will have four outreach services that work to identify and work hands on to catch children and young people before they have ended up wrong.

Our goal is that all children should have a bright future and that no children and young people should be recruited into crime and radicalizing environments in Västerås, says committee chair for sports, leisure and prevention Vicki Skure-Eriksson (C) in the press release.

Together with the social services, methods and training materials will be developed and training will be provided by employees.

The city of Västerås also hopes to be able to increase collaboration with parents, schools, associations, religious communities and the police and more.

BRÅ and the Center against Violent Extremism announce that the City of Västerås will receive a grant for the period 15 December 2020 to 31 December 2021. The project runs over three years and the City of Västerås will apply for financial support for the remaining years as well.
