It's a sad record.

The United States recorded more than 2,700 deaths and nearly 200,000 new cases of coronavirus in 24 hours, according to the Covid Tracking Project, and hospitalizations for the first time exceeded 100,000 people.

With a positivity rate above 10%, CDC director (health authority) Robert Redfield once again sounded the alarm on Wednesday, saying this winter could be "the most difficult period for public health in the history of our country ”.

According to him, the toll, which is currently at 273,000 dead, could exceed 450,000 deaths by the end of February.

California Red Alert

The American authorities fear that this situation will worsen: more than 150,000 people are currently tested positive for Covid-19 every day in the United States.

A surge in contamination is also expected after the Thanksgiving celebrations, marked by the displacement of millions of people.

California alone recorded more than 20,000 cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday, becoming the US state with the most cases in one day since the start of the pandemic.
