Bremerhaven (dpa / lni) - The headquarters of the fish restaurant chain Nordsee is to remain in Bremerhaven.

The company announced this on Wednesday after four rounds of talks with the Food-Gourmet-Gaststätten (NGG) union.

It is a fundamental decision for Bremerhaven.

No agreement has yet been reached on the conditions for maintaining the site.

The restaurant chain had been considering relocating its headquarters since last year.

The more than 100 employees at headquarters protested against this and went on strike for 22 days in September and October.

The Lord Mayor of Bremerhaven Melf Grantz and the Mayor of Bremen Andreas Bovenschulte (both SPD) intervened as mediators.

"We are pleased that we were able to create clarity on the location issue for our employees, but also for the Bremerhaven region," said company boss Carsten Horn.

In the economically tense situation, the North Sea must "develop and change significantly".

He said the NGG's demands could not be met.

The long-established company Nordsee, founded in 1896, has belonged to the Swiss investment company Kharis Capital, which specializes in fast-food restaurants, since 2018.

The business with fish rolls and fried fish near the North Sea is to be modernized and digitized.

Nordsee has already closed a second administrative headquarters in Düsseldorf and moved its tasks to Bremerhaven.
