Almost dying after a mediocre November, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) revived in the space of a single European Cup match.

This December 2, 2020, the French football champions won a very precious victory on the pitch of Manchester United, in Group H of the Champions League.

Good start for Paris, then ...

The start of the PSG meeting is almost perfect.

In the 6th minute, Neymar took advantage of a shot from Kylian Mbappé countered to send the ball to the back of the net, with a half-volley: 0-1.

Unfortunately for the Brazilian and his partners, Danilo did the same in his own cage, in the 32nd minute.

The Portuguese unintentionally deflects a shot from Marcus Rashford: 1-1.

An equalization all the more difficult for the Parisians to digest as it comes after a yellow card received by Fred (23rd).

The head butt given by the Brazilian midfielder to Leandro Paredes is certainly light.

But this type of gesture is normally punished with a red card.

Referee Daniele Orsato however chooses a half-sanction, after having re-viewed the scene thanks to the VAR.

A decisive Marquinhos

The visitors' difficulties continued in the second half.

The champions of France are suffering.

In the 49th minute, following a good three-way movement between Edinson Cavani, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, the Frenchman was in a good position but he was pulling over.

In the 57th, on a new counter-attack, Edinson Cavani tries a brilliant lob but the ball bounces off the crossbar.

He comes back to Martial who pulls hard.

But Marquinhos throws himself on the trajectory, thus avoiding the worst at the French club.

The PSG captain is decisive at both ends of the pitch.

After having also found the crossbar on a header (64th), the Brazilian doubles the lead in the 69th minute.

On a corner, the ball sails into the area and comes back near Marquinhos who is ahead of the Red Devils goalkeeper David De Gea: 1-2.

In the process, Fred is excluded for a second warning (70th).

A double for Neymar

The planets are finally lining up for Paris, which takes revenge after Manchester United's 2-1 victory at the Parc des Princes on October 20.

During the stoppage of play, Neymar signs indeed a double: 1-3, 90th + 1.

Despite RB Leipzig's 4-3 success against Istanbul BB, Paris Saint-Germain are now in a much more comfortable position ahead of the final matchday, scheduled for December 8.

A draw against the Turkish club, already eliminated, may be enough to qualify for the round of 16 of the Champions League.
