Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The number of extreme corona hotspots in North Rhine-Westphalia has declined.

On Tuesday, the State Center Health NRW (LZG) recorded three cities in Duisburg, Hagen and Solingen in which more than 200 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants were detected in seven days.

From this weekly value, the federal and state governments agreed on additional measures to contain the virus.

Last week, 9 of 53 districts and cities in North Rhine-Westphalia were above the weekly incidence of 200.

Solingen had the highest weekly value on Tuesday with 263.7.

In the whole of North Rhine-Westphalia, the weekly incidence fell by 4.7 to 142.8 infections per 100,000 inhabitants.

However, the situation in the corona pandemic remains tense.

The guideline value to be achieved is still 50. Since Monday, the health authorities have reported 3070 new corona infections to the LZG.

At the peak in early November, there were well over 5,000 new cases per day.

The number of people currently infected with the coronavirus in NRW is currently estimated at 65,600.

The number of deaths related to the coronavirus rose by 80 to 3,515.
