Schortens (dpa) - Because of possible contamination, the food manufacturer Meienburg in Schortens is recalling a variety of muesli and several pack sizes of sesame seeds.

The company in the Lower Saxony district of Friesland announced on Tuesday that increased residues of the chemical ethylene oxide were found in some batches of the sesame seeds.

Packs of Meienburg sesame seeds with 500 and 1000 grams, Meienburg sesame seeds peeled 400 grams and Meienburg Friesen-Müsli Seesucht 400 grams are affected.

The goods were sold nationwide in supermarkets.

It should not be consumed.

The disinfectant ethylene oxide is used in the production of food to reduce germs.

It is classified as harmful in the EU.
