December 01, 2020 Joe Biden and Kamala Harris held remote talks with national security and climate policy officials.

Both sides discussed Biden's commitment to the climate, including the US return to the Paris Agreement on his first day in office as president.

The US media reported it.

Earlier, Biden had publicly stated that he would tie the United States back to the deal after he took office.

On November 4, 2019, the US government led by Donald Trump sent a letter to the United Nations informing the United States to start the process of withdrawing from the Paris Agreement and to officially withdraw a year later.

Biden had a telephone conversation with the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, in which a "strengthening of collaboration" was discussed in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic and in the fight against climate change.

This was reported in a note from Biden's Transition Tream.

These are two areas in which the outgoing US president, Donald Trump, had rejected a multilateral approach, abandoning the Paris climate agreement and announcing his withdrawal from the WHO.

Biden and Guterres, the note continues, also discussed how to "address humanitarian needs, advance with sustainable development, support peace and security and resolve conflicts and promote democracy and human rights".

The president-elect then expressed to Guterres his "deep concern" about the conflict in Ethiopia, where government forces are fighting against the Tigre separatists.

Wisconsin Confirms Biden Victory

The Wisconsin Electoral Commission confirmed Joe Biden's election victory following a partial recount, opening a five-day window to appeal for the outgoing president.

Trump announced on Saturday that he would sue Monday or Tuesday.
