The Cross Med, the regional center for surveillance and rescue operations in the Mediterranean

Sea, received around midnight the signal from a distress beacon signaling the sinking of a boat, a 12-meter fishing vessel.

The ship's boss in hypothermia

A speedboat was dispatched to the scene, and a man spotted: it was the skipper of the ship, who reported that two other sailors were on board with him at the time of the sinking.

The man, in shock and hypothermia, was brought to shore.

Research is still continuing this Monday morning, with the Cross Med, supported by helicopters from the gendarmerie and civil security and sea rescuers. About ten fishing vessels also spontaneously joined the sinking area to provide their assistance to research.
