Frankfurt (dpa / lhe) - According to a survey, more than half of the Hessians want to be vaccinated against the corona virus.

As the Barmer Ersatzkasse announced on Monday, 52 percent of those surveyed are ready to be vaccinated according to a representative survey from November.

58 percent of them would like to get vaccinated immediately or as soon as possible.

Eleven percent of all respondents, however, stated that they “definitely not” want to be vaccinated.

According to the Barmer, the focus of those preparing to vaccinate is to protect themselves and the environment. 64 percent want to be protected as best as possible, for 62 percent it is about protecting others. According to evaluations of the survey, about five out of six people in Hessen are of the opinion that medical staff and elderly people who are at higher risk of getting sick should be vaccinated first. According to Barmer, however, the majority are not in favor of compulsory vaccination: 64 percent reject such a compulsory vaccination.
