CTS tram and bus.

Strasbourg on 08 27 2020. -

G. Varela / 20 Minutes

Since the beginning of November, violent attacks, verbal and physical, have occurred on the network of the Strasbourg Transport Company (CTS).

A few days ago, individuals were throwing projectiles at buses or the tram, or even a bus driver was put in play by a man on a scooter, who ended up shooting at the tram before fleeing.

This Sunday evening again, the CTS indicated "that a security incident" had occurred at the end of the day on the sector of the Martin Schongauer station, on line B of the tram.

A shot, probably from a pellet gun, would have hit one of the doors of the train.

In the process, the CGT union of the CTS, which continues to alert to a deteriorating situation, exercised its right of withdrawal.

The entire line was shut down, as well as the buses of line 40, until the end of the evening.

Traffic resumed this morning, despite four assaults in a week ...

Ten people arrested since November

Prefect Josiane Chevalier as well as all the actors: national and municipal police, CTS, Eurometropolis of Strasbourg, met on Friday.

It was initially decided to strengthen national police patrols, particularly in the most sensitive areas, and to send "the municipal police as close as possible".

The CTS will for its part strengthen the presence of its intervention agents in the evening.

Further meetings are planned between all stakeholders.

The ongoing investigations carried out since November have allowed the arrest of ten people, said the prefecture.
