Pablo Iglesias feels "respected" in the Government.

He maintains a direct and more than fluid channel with Pedro Sánchez to solve those continuous frictions in the coalition that are enraged and accumulate in a few days political victories over a sector of the PSOE: budget pact with EH Bildu and exile to Ciudadanos, rectification in the team that will manage European funds, ban on evictions ...

And it even warns the PP that the PSOE and United We Can unfreeze the reform proposal of the General Council of the Judiciary (

CGPJ

) that they presented in Congress, if it maintains its refusal to negotiate, and that it foresees an alteration of the majorities that It allows undertaking the reform without counting on the

popular ones

and that caused concern and criticism in Brussels.

Faced with the position expressed by the PP that the negotiation to renew the members of the judges' body does not exist and they do not foresee that it exists if Sánchez does not meet certain requirements, including excluding Podemos, Iglesias goes on the attack: "Then We will have no choice but to change the law. [The renewal] is not going to be blocked because we look like Bolsheviks to them. "

The PP denies an agreement for the CGPJ: "What the minister said is not true"

Until now, the PSOE had opted to keep the reform frozen pending dialogue with the PP, but the second vice president of the Government is pressing the clock.

"It is not possible to consent that one, two, three, four years we have blocked the government of the judges," he said.

The reform presented in Congress by socialists and

morados

contemplates that if the majority of three fifths - 210 deputies out of a total of 350 - is not reached, the 12 members from the judicial career may be elected by an absolute majority - six in Congress. and six in the Senate.

That is, 176 votes would be required, which right now the Executive could reach thanks to the partners with whom it is agreeing the General State Budgets for 2021. Iglesias justifies the change of majorities in that now, in Spain, there are no longer majorities absolute and that this measure was designed so that a single party could not name all the members of the CGPJ.

But the move drew criticism from Europe.

The president of the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) of the Council of Europe,

Marin Mrcêla

, wrote to the Ministry of Justice to warn it that the initiative deviated from the Council of Europe regulations regarding the composition of judicial councils and election of its members.

More recently, the EU Justice Commissioner,

Didier Reynders

, asked the Minister of Justice, Juan Carlos Campo, for explanations about the Government's intentions to reform the election system of the General Council of the Judiciary.

Previously, Reynders himself had already spoken by phone with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Arancha González Laya, in a conversation where he conveyed Brussels's concern about the reform of the law in which the PSOE and United Podemos were working.

And it is that Brussels has been sending messages to Spain for weeks so that it "sits down to negotiate with the opposition" or it could harden its pressure against Pedro Sánchez.

Only after all the warnings from Europe questioning the reform of the Executive, Sánchez offered to stop it, freeze it, to try to find a pact with the PP.

It assimilates the "democratic bet" of Bildu with that of the PP

But the incorporation of Bildu to governance continues to dominate the present.

The second vice president considers his incorporation to the "legislative bloc" as "the best news for Spanish democracy" and draws a similarity with his political trajectory to what happened with

Alianza Popular

, the seed of the PP.

"The PP was founded by seven ministers of the dictatorship. Some of them signed death sentences against democrats who were fighting in this country for the freedoms that we all enjoy. I, who am the son and grandson of the democrats who risked their lives for the freedom, I thank those Francoist gentlemen who decided to renounce the military dictatorship and bet on democracy, although lately in their agreements with Vox they seem to be turning the other way, "said Iglesias.

And he added: "In a democracy, that those who in the past bet on violence bet on legal and democratic means and negotiate is the best news."

Since last August, the second vice president of the Government has been a crucial actor in tying the support of Bildu and ERC to public accounts and getting Ciudadanos out of the picture.

His position and message is clear, even for those ministers who are reluctant to maintain the stability of the legislature in these partners: he maintains that in the Ajuria Enea pacts,

HB

was asked to

defend his ideas "through democratic channels, including the Popular Alliance. It is a success of the Spanish democracy that should excite you all, "he said in an interview in

La Sexta

.

At the same time,

Mertxe Aizpurua

, a Bildu deputy and one of those closest to HB, participated on behalf of this formation in the act of remembrance to

Ernest Lluch

organized by the Congress of Deputies.

Pablo Iglesias always fought to build governance over those parties that allowed Pedro Sánchez to be inaugurated and obtained the approval of the Prime Minister to work on it.

He set himself a double mission: to achieve it, while he threw Inés Arrimadas out of the photo.

The second vice president does not harbor ethical or moral doubts about Bildu's support, nor does he consider that he should go through a greater moral journey.

Dramatizes what it defines as the "ethical route that have made the leaders of the left -

wing nationalism

" in the person of Arnaldo Otegi, "whose work was a

condition of possibility that ETA stop killing and disappear".

Insisting on the comparison with the PP and Vox, calling the formation of Santiago Abascal "immoral" because "it vindicates the governments of the dictatorship, considering that they were better than the current government."

Regarding the

popular

, it has been asked what moral path should be made by a party that has called my father a "terrorist", who "created the Gürtel" or a "para-police apparatus to persecute their political adversaries."
