The second round of municipal elections took place this Sunday in Brazil.

The center-right candidates win the day, those supported by President Jair Bolsonaro suffer crushing defeats.

For

Folha

“

the re-election of the center-right candidate Bruno Covas for mayor of Sao Paulo is due to his good management of the health crisis.

The population clearly approves of municipal actions against the epidemic.

The contrast with the irresponsibility of the Bolsonaro government could not be more striking

”.

The victory of another candidate of the moderate right also spills a lot of ink: that of Eduardo Paes, in Rio de Janeiro.

He was already mayor of Rio for two consecutive terms between 2009 and 2016. “It was the golden age”, recalls

O Globo

, “

Paes had been able to benefit from the Olympic Games, from the Football World Cup and the support of the governments of Lula, then of Dilma Roussef, which enabled it to invest massively in the infrastructure of the city.

Today's reality is quite different,

”warns the columnist.

The city has accumulated a record deficit.

In this scorched earth scenario, the new mayor will have to convince the private sector to invest

", insists

O Globo

before concluding: the priority objective of Eduardo Paes is" to

rapidly improve services to the population without major expenses for the city whose coffers are hopelessly empty

”.

For President Jair Bolsonaro, whose candidates have suffered stinging defeats, these municipal authorities sound like a warning.

Jair Bolsonaro is more isolated than ever,

” says

Pagina 12

.

"

While two other candidates, young and left, have been able to break into the national political scene, despite their defeats in municipal elections,

" said the daily.

"

They are Manuela d'Avila, in Porto Alegre, and Guilherme Boulos in Sao Paolo

".

In Wisconsin, recount confirms Joe Biden victory

In the United States, Donald Trump suffered a new setback this Sunday in his legal crusade against the result of the presidential election with the end of the recount of votes in the state of Wisconsin.

The verdict is final: "

87 votes more for Joe Biden,

" announces the

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

.

A result "

all the more bitter for Donald Trump because it is his team who had to pay for this recount, more than $ 3 million

," said the

Washington Post

.

Donald Trump now wants to file an action in the Supreme Court of Wisconsin.

"

The recount in Wisconsin revealed people who voted illegally,

" said the outgoing president, who called for not counting postal votes in this Midwestern state.

According to the

New York Times

, Donald Trump is still trying by all means to delay the certification of results.

He does not have much time left: in Wisconsin but also in Arizona, this certification should take place in the coming hours.

Colombia 4,513 victims of the armed conflict since signing of the peace agreement

It has been four years now since the government and the former FARC guerrillas signed a historic peace accord.

Yet the armed conflict continues to

claim

victims, "

4513 in four years

".

The figure was released this weekend by the CNMH, the National Center for Historical Memory, a government body dedicated to preserving the memory of victims of the Colombian armed conflict.

Among these victims, the CNMH counted the targeted killings, which represent more than a third of the total number, followed by the victims of armed clashes (23%) and kidnappings, 19%.

But, as the newspaper

El Tiempo

specifies

, "

the organization did not report on the displaced persons

His kidnapping caused anger and indignation among other doctors and students,

”reports

Le Nouvelliste

.

A spontaneous demonstration by his colleagues was violently dispersed by the national police.

"

At least one doctor was seriously wounded by gunshot wounds in the face,

" recounts

Haiti Press Network

.

Until the release of Hans David Thélémaque, the country's public hospitals went on strike, notes

Le Nouvelliste

.

."
