Los Angeles (AP) - “Black Panther” star Chadwick Boseman would now be 44 years old - for his birthday, family and colleagues remembered the film star who died young.

"Today is a good day to give someone flowers," wrote his brother Kevin Boseman on Sunday (local time) on Instagram under a picture of a field of white flowers.

Boseman became world famous as the king's son T'Challa in the superhero film "Black Panther".

Lupita Nyong'o (37), who plays the warrior Nakia in the film, shared a photo of Boseman and herself on Twitter.

“Deeply loved, sorely missed,” she wrote.

"Avengers" colleague Mark Ruffalo (53) uploaded a video of a joint shooting from 2017, in which the film crew Boseman had sung a birthday song.

Disney + also remembered the actor on Sunday.

In honor of Boseman, the streaming provider changed the opening credits to "Black Panther": In the new opening credits, the Marvel Studios logo opens up to a collage of film scenes from various Marvel films in which Boseman can be seen as T'Challa.

Quotes from his figure are also displayed.

Robert Iger, executive chairman of the Disney board of directors, had announced the surprise in advance on Twitter: fans of “Black Panther” can expect “a special tribute to someone who was very dear to us and will always be”.

Boseman died of colon cancer on August 28, after battling the disease for four years.

The comic film adaptation of “Black Panther” made the actor not only a film star, but also a figure who identified with the civil rights movement “Black Lives Matter”.
