Kassel (dpa / lhe) - The documenta work of art «Laserscape» in Kassel is to shine again in its original form with a green and red beam before the end of the year.

On the occasion of its 90th birthday, the municipal works gave the city a red laser, the company announced on Monday: "It should be installed and adjusted before Christmas."

The work of art has been shining in Kassel's night sky for over 40 years.

The artist Horst Baumann created the light installation for the documenta 6 exhibition in 1977.

The red laser was part of the original installation and could be seen every Saturday until 2007 next to a green laser beam between the Museum Fridericianum and the Kassel landmark Herkules.

In 2007 “Laserscape” was handed over to the documenta forum association.

The old and no longer reliable laser technology was replaced by a green laser at that time - the red one was removed.

The municipal works did not provide any information about the cost of the new laser.

It will officially go into operation for the first time on December 19.
