The body of a French national was found Saturday in Mexico City by the police, who opened an investigation, we learned from the Attorney General of the Mexican capital.

This “French national” had been missing since Friday and his family had alerted the local authorities, the attorney general said in a statement.

"The man was found lifeless on Saturday morning next to the body of another individual" in a street in Polanco, an upscale neighborhood near the city center, where many foreigners live, according to the same source.

Circumstances still unknown

The circumstances of the death of this Frenchman - as well as that of the other man whose nationality was not mentioned - were not communicated.

Mexican media, however, specify that the French national is a 45-year-old businessman.

The French embassy said it was unable to give information in connection with the investigation, stressing that it was in contact with the authorities.
