Hanover (dpa / lni) - After a fire in an empty house in Hanover-Döhren on Saturday, the police arrested a man as a suspected arsonist.

A police spokesman said he was suspicious of having started this fire.

It will be checked whether he is also a possible perpetrator in other fires.

Further details were not given.

Fires have been set 18 times in the southern districts of Hanover since August.

Some houses were affected, but also garden sheds in allotments.

Since mid-November, the police have been looking for an unknown man with a phantom.

The fire on Saturday was quickly extinguished by the fire department.

It was possible to prevent the flames from spreading from the unoccupied house to an adjacent guesthouse.
