The police in western Sweden received many anxious calls after at least two loud bangs were heard in the area.

At the same time, a powerful light phenomenon appeared in the sky.

The incident certainly caused concern among some, but the incident had nothing to do with crime or an accident.

Instead, it is all about a meteorite, more specifically a car, says Eric Stemples, who works at Uppsala University's Department of Physics and Astronomy

The journey to Earth begins with a collision between two meteors in somewhere in our solar system, for example near Mars or Venus.

The collision means that the meter reaches a speed between 10 and 70 kilometers - per second.

When the meteor enters the atmosphere, a deceleration takes place which becomes more and more powerful as the air density becomes denser.

The violent deceleration means that the air heats up, which in turn melts the surface of the stone and splits the meteor into smaller parts.

- And it is in a way that the light phenomenon itself arises.

At the same time, a sound wave is created which means a loud bang, which is why the police are called down by calls.

According to Eric Stempels, Sweden is affected by methods of this kind about ten times a year.

- But most of the time it happens in areas that are sparsely populated and therefore no one notices it.
