Leinfelden-Echterdingen (dpa) - 66 items from the estate of the first German Chancellor, Konrad Adenauer, are being auctioned today.

According to the auction house Eppli, this includes a set of boccia balls with a starting price including buyer's premium of 650 euros and a port wine for 400 euros that the Spanish dictator Francisco Franco had given the CDU politician on his 90th birthday.

The auction in Leinfelden-Echterdingen near Stuttgart takes place without an audience on site.

Interested parties can bid in writing, by telephone or via live broadcast on the Internet.

Adenauer was the first Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany from 1949 to 1963.

He died in 1967 in Rhöndorf near Bonn.

According to Eppli, the items offered for auction come from the estate of Adenauer's youngest son, who died in February of this year.
