After the equalizer, Zamalek extended its control over the match and tried to take advantage of Al-Ahly's players' lack of focus to add another goal.

However, the most dangerous chances were for Al-Ahly with Hussein Al-Shahat's foot, whose ball collided with the left post of the Zamalek goalkeeper in the 54th minute, and Ahmed Sayed Zizou responded in the 65th minute with a ball that collided with the right post of Al-Ahly goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawi.

The two teams exchanged control over the remaining minutes of the match before Mohamed Magdy Afsha snatched the winning goal in the 86th minute.

The final match came at the end of a version that is the longest in the history of the competition, as its matches began in August 2019, and was scheduled to end on May 29, before it was decided to postpone its activities more than once due to the repercussions of the Corona virus.

Since the start of the first edition of the Champions League in 1964, the final had never witnessed the presence of two teams from one country, but Al-Ahly and Zamalek were finally able to achieve this historic achievement, to confirm their leadership of African football.

Today, Egyptian football achieved its fifteenth crowning of the most glorious African Cups, to reinforce its top position in the list of countries most obtaining the Champions League, noting that today's match witnessed the presence of an Egyptian party in the final for the 23rd time in the history of the competition.

Arab football achieved its 32nd title in its history in the competition, and the fourth in a row, after Morocco's Wydad Casablanca won the cup in 2017 and Tunisia's Esperance in 2018 and 2019.
