Saarbrücken (dpa / lrs) - The Saarland state parliament will meet for a special session next Tuesday (December 1st).

The current corona situation is on the agenda, said the spokeswoman for the state parliament on Friday in Saarbrücken.

The special session was requested by the Left parliamentary group after the federal and state governments agreed on Wednesday to extend the partial lockdown and tighten rules in the fight against the corona pandemic.

Left parliamentary group leader Oskar Lafontaine had demanded that the state parliament be referred to the resolutions.

"The decision of the state government not to involve the state parliament with the decisions of the Federal Chancellor and the Prime Minister before the relevant statutory ordinance is passed is a disregard for parliament and unconstitutional," he said.

When it comes to restrictions on fundamental rights, the state parliament should be involved.

On (today) Friday, the Council of Ministers wanted to adopt the new Corona regulation, which will come into force next week.

According to the state parliament, the coalition factions of the CDU and SPD have approved the request for a special session.
