Saarbrücken (dpa / lrs) - In the fight against the corona pandemic, the Saarland state government passed a new regulation with tightened rules on Friday.

It comes into force this Sunday (November 29th).

«The tightening measures taken at the beginning of November have flattened the infection curve slightly.

The numbers are no longer increasing exponentially, but they are still at a high level every day, ”said Health Minister Monika Bachmann (CDU).

"Our goal is that we can loosen the contact restrictions a little over Christmas, so that the closest family and friends can come together," said Prime Minister Tobias Hans (CDU) according to a message that was spread in the evening.

Despite the need for stricter measures, personal contacts should also be made possible.

"Our aim is to find an acceptable mix of rules and appeals to reason."

For example, the mask requirement is being expanded: In future, mouth and nose covering must also be worn in front of shops and in the associated parking lots.

In addition, according to the information, this generally applies to closed rooms that are accessible to the public or as part of customer traffic, in offices and companies.

This does not apply to one's own workplace, provided the minimum distance is maintained.
