With 57.87% of the vote according to the provisional results, President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré won in the first round of the presidential election.

He succeeded in his famous knockout shot and is leaving for a second term.

Eddie Komboïgo, of the CDP, the former ruling party, comes in second (15.48% of the vote), and Zéphirin Diabré, the current leader of the opposition, comes in third with just over 12% of the votes.

As soon as his victory was announced, President Kaboré promised "permanent consultation" and that he would be "the president of all Burkinabè, without exception".

Even if the opposition, in a republican posture, has chosen to take note of the provisional results, in recent days, the political climate has suddenly become tense in Burkina Faso.

The opposition denounced the frauds and shortcomings of a nature, according to it, to taint the sincerity of the ballot, which saw the outgoing president,

Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, be reelected in the first round

.

Calm the spirits and face terrorism

According to an analyst, if his victory is confirmed by the Constitutional Council, the first challenge of the Head of State will therefore be to appease the spirits.

The social fabric is already weakened by the crisis the country is going through.

During the campaign, President Kaboré promised a national reconciliation forum in the first quarter of next year.

But will he first reach out to some opponents?

He said, in any case, open to dialogue.

“

I do not forget the voters who made a different choice.

I hear their concerns and their criticisms.

I undertake to take their expectations into account.

I would also like to pay special tribute to the other candidates in this election.

I am deeply attached to consultation and permanent dialogue

 , ”he declared.

The other major project for Roch Marc Christian Kaboré will be that of insecurity.

He promised to strengthen the operational capacities of the Defense and Security Forces.

According to one of his relatives, the Head of State will never stop repeating this message: “

We must remain united and united in the face of terrorism.

 "

Participation in the first round stood at 50.79%, far from the record set during the 2015 presidential election. The face of the new National Assembly is still unknown for the time being.

The Céni has until Sunday, November 29 to publish the results.

The Constitutional Council will proclaim the final results of this double ballot.

The opposition wants to "preserve the peace, stability and security" of the country

According to these provisional results published yesterday by the Ceni (Independent National Electoral Commission) Roch Marc Christian Kaboré won in the first round with 57.87% of the vote, ahead of Eddie Komboïgo of the CDP (15.48%) and Zéphirin Diabré, the current leader of the opposition (just over 12%).

As for the ten other candidates, they share the remaining 14%: Kadré Désiré Ouédraogo obtains 3.36%, Tahirou Barry 2.19%, the former Prime Minister of the Transition Isaac Zida 1.52% ...

Thursday, November 26, shortly after this proclamation, the seven candidates signing the political agreement of the opposition made their position known.

The ceremony of proclamation of the provisional results at the CENI took place in the absence of the seven candidates who signed the political agreement.

A first act taken before delivering their message, read by Tahirou Barry: “

The political opposition takes note of the provisional results proclaimed by the Ceni and reserves the right to use legal remedies to deal with the inequalities noted during the ballot.

 "

The opponents recall, of course, the shortcomings and irregularities which, according to them, call into question the sincerity of the ballot.

But, in a republican spirit, they do not appeal to the streets: "

The political opposition reaffirms its renewed desire to preserve peace, stability and security in Burkina Faso by placing the best interests of the nation in- above all other considerations.

 "

Sunday, many voters said: they were afraid of fraud and disputes.

With the security and humanitarian crisis that the country is going through, Burkina cannot afford the luxury of a post-election crisis

," explained these voters, who were undoubtedly, to a certain extent, relieved Thursday evening.
