Schwerin (dpa / mv) - In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, around 14.3 million euros of already approved Corona emergency aid have been repaid.

The sum relates to around 1,800 applications, as the Ministry of Economics in Schwerin announced on request.

It is about voluntary and arranged repayments.

How exactly these are divided up could not be said at first.

There are several possible reasons for the repayment, according to the ministry.

On the one hand, there was no or a lower liquidity bottleneck than assumed in the application during the approval period.

In addition, a few companies gave up or filed for bankruptcy during the period.

At the end of March, the federal and state governments decided on emergency aid programs worth billions in response to the economic consequences of the corona pandemic.

According to this, the self-employed, small and medium-sized businesses receive financial aid from the state.

Depending on the size of the company, the grants are between 9,000 and 60,000 euros.

The federal government grants the funds for small businesses, but the state advances.

The applications could be submitted to the state funding institute by the end of May.

In the northeast there were more than 43,000, about 345 million euros were paid out.
