Ingolstadt (dpa / lby) - The Ingolstadt district court has sentenced a woman to six and a half years in prison for fatal knife wounds on her partner.

The court ruled the act on Friday as a minor case of manslaughter.

According to a court spokesman, it also ordered the drug addict woman to be placed in a rehab facility.

This means that the 30-year-old will probably only have to go to jail for a good three months if the verdict becomes final.

Then she could start the two-year therapy, as the court spokesman said.

If this is successful, the remainder of the sentence can then be suspended.

According to a psychiatric report, the woman was less responsible for a drug cocktail in the act.

At the beginning of the process, the woman had confessed to stabbing the man, who was about ten years older, to death shortly before Christmas 2019.

However, she had pleaded self-defense - the man had threatened her.

The defense had therefore initially demanded acquittal - and, in the event that the court should not follow suit, a conviction in a less serious case of manslaughter and rapid admission to a rehab facility.

The public prosecutor's office had also requested placement in a therapeutic facility and also requested a prison sentence of seven and a half years.
