Dresden (dpa / sn) - Saxony's cabinet wants to set the new rules to contain the corona pandemic in Dresden today.

The government's draft was first discussed in the specialist committees of the state parliament, on Friday afternoon, Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU) and Health Minister Petra Köpping (SPD) will present the new regulation.

This should then also last over Christmas and New Years Eve.

After consultations with the federal and state governments, Kretschmer had already announced that if the incidence rate was 200 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in one week, stricter rules such as contact restrictions or alcohol bans in public would be imposed.

In a corona summit lasting several hours, the federal and state governments agreed on Wednesday evening in a joint resolution paper, among other things, to extend the partial lockdown: Leisure and cultural facilities and restaurants will remain closed, initially until December 20. Contacts will be more limited from December 1st, but should be relaxed over Christmas until the beginning of January.
