Water flowed straight through the roof of the apartment where Åsa Norberg lived until recently.

The house in Härnösand will now be completely renovated by the new owners Thomas and Maria Jonasson.

Although great efforts are required to get the house in habitable condition, they are not afraid of the task.

- We raised the scaffolding last Saturday and on Sunday we started pulling the brick.

We had to replace about two square meters of rote which we then put sheet metal over.

Now the leak is over there but there is a large part of the roof left, says Thomas Jonasson.

Continued rental ban

However, the previous rental ban issued by the environmental office with regard to Åsa Norberg's former apartment remains.

- It comes with the new property owner and will be completed when the apartment is repaired, says Katja Andersson who is an environmental manager at Härnösand municipality.

Year-long renovation

Before the rental ban can be lifted and someone can move into the apartment again, the property owner has to fix more than the leaking roof.

In the clip, Thomas Jonasson tells how long it will take to renovate the house and how the tenants are affected.
