Abu Dhabi launched the "Coalition of Hope" in support of global efforts to distribute the "Covid-19" virus vaccines to all parts of the world, in conjunction with the expected increase in the demand for logistics services dedicated to transporting vaccines, which strengthens the emirate's position as a global logistical center, taking advantage of its strategic geographical location, And the network of roads, transportation, ports and airports that are characterized by it.

The consortium, which includes leading local and global entities, provides integrated supply chain solutions to meet the requirements of the vaccine transportation process, demand planning, supply and training, in addition to providing digital infrastructure to effectively contribute to the provision of the vaccine worldwide.

The launch of the coalition comes on the heels of the success of "Etihad Shipping" and "The Coalition" in transferring five million vaccines during the month of November, under the supervision of the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi, which leads the "Coalition of Hope", as it will supervise its regulatory compliance and its full range of expertise and scientific aspects.

The consortium includes Etihad Shipping, Abu Dhabi Ports, and Rafid, the new healthcare procurement company launched by ADQ Holding, which is based in Abu Dhabi, in addition to the Swiss company, SkySale.

The award-winning Swiss company is developing next-generation logistic containers for the pharmaceutical sector, where temperatures can be controlled and monitored remotely, and will collaborate with the consortium by establishing a regional service and manufacturing center in Abu Dhabi.

The "Coalition of Hope" mobilized its expertise to provide the logistical services to deal with more than six billion doses of global vaccines, which are currently being developed and manufactured, and contain single or multiple doses, and stored in cold and ultra-cold temperatures in 2021, with the number increasing to more than Three times the current number by the end of next year, and it is one of the largest storage and logistical capacities in the world, and the largest in the region.

The vaccines, which will be stored in Abu Dhabi port facilities, will be distributed to the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors through Etihad Cargo, given that it is the first carrier in the Middle East to obtain the Independent Auditors Excellence Center certificate of the International Air Transport Association for drug transport services.
