Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BWIHK) is calling for a corona strategy from politicians for the coming year that does not make further industry closings necessary.

“It can't be the solution to continue moving around lockdown to aid programs and restarting next year.

We can simply no longer afford that economically, ”said BWIHK President Wolfgang Grenke on Thursday.

"Proposals for solutions for 2021 that reliably take into account business opportunities for everyone" are now needed.

Companies in the hotel, catering, art, culture and large parts of the stationary trade expected "finally planning security".

According to the BWIHK, a survey showed that almost 42 percent of around 1,300 south-west companies surveyed complain about a decline in their equity.

According to this, 34 percent of the companies expect sales losses of at least a quarter compared to 2019 for the full year. And according to the survey, around 26 percent of the companies are struggling with liquidity problems regardless of state aid.

Grenke said the extension of the partial lockdown was "further bad news" for the industries concerned, especially since December was one of the months with the highest turnover for many companies.

The decisions made by the federal and state governments on Wednesday evening provide, among other things, that the partial lockdown with the closure of restaurants, theaters, fitness studios and leisure facilities will be extended until December 20.
