  • Bruno Le Maire, the Minister of the Economy, indicated that he was in favor of opening businesses on Sundays in December to make up for lost sales.

  • In Haute-Garonne, shops are authorized to do so from this weekend thanks to a specific agreement signed each year and which covers in 2020 the next five Sundays.

  • For the deputy mayor for Commerce, Olivier Arsac, this agreement "is in the nails" and falls "well".

Bruno Le Maire has said it, he is in favor of the opening of small businesses on Sundays in December in order to make up for lost sales.

For this to be possible, a circular must be sent to the prefectures encouraging them to facilitate exemptions and Jean Castex must specify the main lines on Thursday.

In Toulouse, and in Haute-Garonne, these openings are already possible thanks to a departmental agreement signed several months ago.

And they will take place from this November 29 and during the four Sundays of December on a voluntary basis.

It is a local specificity, due to an agreement signed each year within the departmental trade council, between employers' organizations and trade unions, in agreement with the association of mayors of France and the communities.

It sets Sundays and public holidays when all businesses can sell their products, whether large or small, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

With @alaingriset, this afternoon we had constructive discussions with the social partners on how to open shops on Sundays before the holidays.

A common objective: to reconcile economic activity and protection of employees.

"We are in the nails"

It starts this Sunday because we included Black Friday Sunday and that's a good thing, ”explains Olivier Arsac, Commerce Assistant for the Pink City.

For the latter, thanks to this agreement, "we are in the nails" for the Sunday openings.

To facilitate the recovery in compliance with health standards, the latter has decided to offer stores to occupy public space on request when necessary, whether to install "click and collect" stands or markings. queue.

And to encourage customers to come and do their shopping in town, by January, six free half-days will be offered to them in the underground car parks of Toulouse.
